Have you ever experienced your smartphone gets wet with water or any other liquid? Do you know the way to fix it out? If you don’t, you may keep reading. Here you go.
If your Galaxy smartphone gets wet or is suffering from water damage, first of all remove the back cover in your phone and remove the battery quickly. Here are the guidelines you just need to follow. 🙂 🙂Â
01.Power Off the device
Remove your Galaxy smartphone from the water or liquid and turn the device’s power off. Remove the back cover, battery, SIM card, and Micro SD card as quickly as possible. Allow it plenty of time to dry.
Do not power on your mobile. Do not try to connect it to other devices and chargers. Because of their conductive material, it may cause a problem if you try to do these things to your mobile until it gets dry.
02.Wipe It, Dry and Absorb
Use an absorbent and soft cloth to wipe the headphone jack and charger pot in your phone. In GSM/AT&T models you can remove the SIM card tray. So, remove it and wipe it carefully. Do not use heating sources to dry it. It is not recommended at all and it may cause additional damages too. Place the device in a safe, dry place at least 48 hours. It will take that much time to evaporate the liquid from it. Do not insert the SIM card or MicroSD card until your phone get dry completely.
03.Dry with uncooked rice? Try it now.
Do you know? You can use uncooked rice to dry your Galaxy smartphone. All you need to do this are a plastic bag and some uncooked rice. Fill the bag with rice and place your phone in it. This way dry rice acts as a desiccant such as silica gel and it is a safe and natural alternative option that anyone can find at home easily. It will help to absorb the excess liquid in the device. As rice grains are bigger than the ports of the device, it will not enter the separations in the phone body and make blocks. You do not need to worry about that either.
04.Review Your Samsung Warranty
Now you should review the terms of your mobile warranty. Liquid damage voids your manufacturer’s warranty and additional carrier coverage if any. There are some third party warranty vendors who offer coverage for accidental drops, spills, and submersion. Some of them are Asurion, Protect Your Bubble, and Square Trade. You can file a claim to replace your phone if you are covered by any of the mentioned warranties. The best thing is, no matter the phone currently seems to be a good condition to use. You can file a claim and get a chance to request a new device according to their rules.
After All
If your phone got damaged with fresh water, you just need to follow the above-mentioned steps, but if the liquid is seawater, treated pool water, coffee, soda, juice, alcohol, or any other liquid, you may have to take additional more steps to solve the problem. When it comes to other liquid mentioned above, you are lucky if your warranty covers liquid damages. If not, all you left to do is submerging your phone in circuit-safe cleaner or pure grain alcohol. Pure grain alcohol absorbs water very well and cleans the device. It helps to evaporate without leaving behind a conductive residue. After the alcohol bath, let it dry in a safe place at least for 48 hours. Do not power on the device until it gets dry completely.
